There are 2 types of discharges that you can have after ovulation, that indicates that you may be pregnant.
A brown discharge 6 days or 7 days past ovulation is an indication of implantation bleeding.Implantation is the process by which a fertilised egg attaches itself to the walls of the uterus. Implantation bleeding looks like light bleeding, pink spots or browns spots of discharge.
Leukorrhea is a white milky or creamy cervical mucus that is common in early pregnancy. It is produced at the cervix(neck of the womb) and it is usually odorless or has a mild smell.
The estrogen hormone level starts to rise after fertilisation to help the uterus grow and to maintain the uterine lining. All these hormonal changes causes an increase vaginal discharge most especially estrogen hormone.
Hormonal imbalance is another cause of vaginal discharge post ovulation. Estrogen dominance after ovulation causes excessive vaginal discharge.
Normally the days after ovulation are sticky and dry days. The reason why many women experience no cervical mucus after ovulation is because the egg-white slippery cervical mucus that makes the vagina super sperm friendly is no longer required.
Normally after ovulation, the estrogen hormone starts to decline and the progesterone hormone starts to increase to thicken the uterus lining. If no fertilisation occurs, the progesterone hormones level also starts to decline also, which causes the uterine lining to be shed as your next period. Just before your period starts, the estrogen hormone starts to increase which causes a thick whitish discharge.
Premenstrual symptoms are similar to early pregnancy symptoms. This is because of the presence estrogen hormone both before a period and its presence if conception occurs after ovulation.
An increasing level of estrogen causes the cervix to secret a thin milky white or creamy discharge if pregnant. And if not pregnant, a thick creamy discharge is produced few days or a week before period starts. The estrogen hormone is also responsible for breast tenderness and other early pregnancy symptoms.
As part of the premenstrual symptoms a whitish secretion after ovulation is a good indication that your period is coming. The discharge is normal if it does not cause any itching of the vagina opening or vulva and odorless. An abnormal discharge is usually associated by itching, foul smell and burning sensation when peeing or having sex.
If you experience an abnormal discharge days after ovulation that is excessive, itchy, smelly, yellowish, greenish then you may have an infection.
Yeast infection: A whitish discharge that is itchy is a yeast infection. Yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of a fungus called candida in the vagina. Yeast infection also causes pain when urinating, during and after intercourse.
If you have been noticing your vagina discharge is always itchy before your period start. This may be caused by the presence of sugar in your vagina around your period that is triggered by the increasing level of estrogen hormone.
Bacteria Vaginosis: If you have a white, gray or yellow discharge that is associated with a strong fish smell then you have BV. BV is caused by having too much bad bacteria than good bacteria in the vagina.
The cervical mucus after conception is usually white, creamy and odorless . After implantation has occurred, there is an increasing level of discharge which is known as leukorrhea. This discharge is normal, if it is not itchy and has no odor. If you have a itchy or smelly discharge, see a doctor immediately. Avoid getting over the counter medication if you suspect you may be pregnant.
After ovulation the quantity of your cervical mucus starts to dry up if not pregnant. Some women experience no discharge or dry CM. The egg white slippery and wet discharge produced at ovulation is no longer present.
Implantation usually occurs 6-7 days after ovulation. This may be accompanied by a brown or pink discharge. Not all women notice that implantation is going on in there body and may experience no symptoms. An increasing level of hormones after fertilisation produces a creamy white discharge to indicate pregnancy.
A yellow discharge is usually a sign of an infection. A normal vagina discharge is usually whitish to grey in color. A slight yellow discharge with no smell or itchiness is also normal. If you have a yellow discharge that smells like fish or that is itchy then you have an infection.
See the doctor immediately, who will perform an internal examination and a swab test to collect samples of discharge or fluid from the vagina.
Brown spotting or brown discharge around 6-7 days post ovulation is usually a sign of pregnancy. It is normal to have a brown mucus after ovulation before a missed period as an early pregnancy symptom.
