You should be worried about your discharge if you have any of the following symptoms:
If you have a whitish clumpy discharge that resembles cottage cheese then you have yeast infection. The discharge may be yellowish for some women. Other symptoms are :itching of the vaginal opening, burning sensation when urinating or during intercourse.

If you notice a foul smelly watery discharge like fish smell or rotten meat smell, then you must likely have an infection. This smells are more pronounced after sex. Although some women also experience vaginal smell during their periods.
Let’s examine all the possible situations when you can have this type of discharge
A common sign of ovulation is the egg white cervical mucus which is secreted by the cervix during ovulation. Most women experience this discharge 1 or 2 days to ovulation.
The discharge is usually clear, stretchy and slippery. The purpose of this discharge is to make vaginal less acidic and to help the sperm swim easily to meet the egg.
The cervical fluid means you are highly fertile.
It is possible to have a clear vaginal discharge that is watery as a sign of early pregnancy. This discharge usually happens after conception and it is is known as Leukorrhea. It is important to know that not all women experience white discharge as a sign of early pregnancy.
Leukorrhea is a medical term for excessive white discharge that happens during pregnancy.
Some women do not experience white discharge in early pregnancy. But as they get to second or third trimester they start to experience more white liquid discharge.
Clear liquid discharge after conception is caused by an increase in the level of estrogen hormone. If trying to conceive and you had unprotected sex around ovulation or in your fertile window, then this may indicate that you are pregnant. The liquid discharge should be odourless or have a mild smell and not itchy or burning.
If you experience a discharge that is watery and has a bad smell like fish then you may have Bacteria Vaginosis.
If the discharge is itchy and burning and you see spots of blood then you may have yeast infection.
It is normal for some women to have a clear stretchy discharge before their period is due. Although this a total scary occurrence for women who have never experienced such.
The days after ovulation is known as dry days. If you have watery clear discharge and you are not pregnant, it may be a sign that your uterine lining is starting to breakdown due to the decrease in the level of progesterone hormone before period(Aunt Flo). Just before your period the level of estrogen hormone rises while the level of progestrone hormone decline. This decline causes the uterine lining to shed as your next menstrual period.
Watery vaginal discharge can happen at any time in your cycle. It just depends on what the cause of this discharge is in the first place. Even though clear and stretchy discharge is mostly noticeable during ovulation and before a period. It is still possible to get a discharge at other times including after your period.
You should be worried if this discharge is smelly, itchy, has a burning sensation during sex or while urinating.
You should see you doctor immediately if this is the first time you are experiencing any of the above named symptoms. The Doctor would be able to diagnose you appropriately by performing a pelvic examination to check what is really wrong.
If you do have an infection. Your doctor may prescribe either antibiotics if you have bacteria vaginosis or an anti-fungal cream for yeast infection. The exact treatment given to you will depend on the extent of the infection.
If you are pregnant and you experience clear running discharge with cramps and this is accompanied with vaginal bleeding, you need to call your doctor right away. This may mean ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage.
If you are not pregnant and you have a lot of water discharge that is leaking or causes cramps and lower abdominal pain, you should also see the doctor straight away. It may be a serious medical condition or an infection.
A moist or fluid-like discharge with bad smell indicates an infection. If it is a fishy smell then you have bacteria vaginosis.
The Common symptoms of bacteria vaginosis are:
Bacteria infection in the vagina is caused by an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the vagina.Every woman has got healthy bacteria present in her vagina to keep the yeast cells in balance. But when there are more bacteria than the yeast cells it leads to a fish smell and causes an infection.
Although bacteria infection is not a sexually transmitted disease but it can be passed onto you through sex. Women who have never had sex can also develop BV so don’t be embarrassed if you have never had sex and you develop BV. It is also not caused by poor hygiene, infact washing the vagina too much can lead to a disturbance between harmful and good bacteria.
Women with this condition are self- conscious because of this unpleasant smell oozing from their vagina. The good news is the BV can be treated.
See the doctor if you have any of the following:
A lot of changes are going on in a woman’s body during pregnancy. The level of her hormones estrogen and progesterone are on the rise to support the new life she is carrying.
It is therefore important that any form of strange discharge is examined. Especially if you have a yellowish, bloody or brown discharge during pregnancy. It doesn’t matter if this discharge is watery, sticky or creamy. If you experience any type of this discharge consult your mid-wive or doctor.
A normal pregnancy discharge should be clear, transparent whitish with no odor, blood or discomfort.
You experience less discharge after ovulation, because the egg-white cervical mucus is no longer need. But most women do have vaginal lubrication that is similar to that produced freely at ovulation when sexually aroused.
The discharge produced after ovulation is usually thick, sticky or thick clear jelly like discharge.
This usually indicates you’re no longer fertile and chances of getting pregnant days past ovulation are slim. If you are trying for a baby, you may notice a white discharge just before you period starts as a symptom of pregnancy.
You should be worried, if the discharge is strange and abnormal i.e causes a foul-smell, green or yellow in colour, pain urinating or during sex, burning and itching, causes blood stains on your panties.
A very common sign of ovulation is a slippery, wet and stretchy discharge. The texture and consistency of this discharge is similar to egg white. This is why the discharge at ovulation is known as egg white cervical mucus.
EWCM is usually seen a day or two before ovulation. And this is the best time for couples trying to conceive to have intercourse.
Vaginal yeast infection also known as candidas is a common infection in women. It is not a sexually transmitted diseases.
Yeast infection is caused by an overgrowth of a types of fungus called candida in the vagina.
An healthy vagina consist of a small quantity of yeast and bacteria. An infection occurs when the quantity of yeast is out of control or multiplies rapidly.

If you have BV, your male partner doesn’t need to be treated.
Also known as Trick is a sexually transmitted disease. It is usually treated with oral metronidazole or tinidazole. The oral treatment of this infection is more effective than using gels or creams.
In general, Consult a doctor when ever you have a vaginal discomfort or an abnormal watery vaginal discharge.
A good panty liner will help keep your panties dry. Although some women use Tampons to absorb the water internally.
This is highly not recommended by me because if you already have an infection, you are prone to make it worse
Make use of water baby wipes to clean up after urinating. The use of tissue might make vaginal infection such as yeast and BV worse.
